Rabbi Dovid and Emma Chandalov

Dovid Chandalov was born in Mogilev, Belarus and immigrated to Germany when he was 16 years old. In 1999, he and his friends opened a Jugendzentrum (Youth Center) in Leipzig, which has evolved to become the present ToraZentrum. He spent five years learning in yeshivot in Berlin and America. In 2006, he returned with his wife Emma to direct the new regional center.

Emma (nee Gorokhovsky) was born in New York to Russian immigrant parents. She studied at the Gateshead Seminary and Touro College, and now functions as the Financial Coordinator of the ToraZentrum. Their daughter Rosa (Chedva Raizel) was born in 2008 and is one of the cutest members of the Tora Zentrum team.

annaAnna Chernyak

Born in St.Petersburg, Russia, in 1986, Anna emigrated to Leipzig with her family in 1997 and has since been active in her town’s Jewish community and in communities elsewhere in Germany. Since the inauguration of the ToraZentrum in 2005 Anna, with her rich experience, has been the program director planning and leading all regional events. She also studies translation at Leipzig University.
