Rabbi Moshe Halpern, Mashgiach

Rabbi Moshe Halpern was born and raised in London, England. He hails from a prominent family of Rabbis and Roshei Yeshiva, many of whom served communities throughout Germany before WW2. He spent many years of intensive study at the prestigious Ponevezh yeshiva in Israel, before continuing his studies at Rabbi Yitzchak Berkowits’ Jerusalem Kollel. Rabbi Halpern serves as the ‘Mashgiach’ or spiritual mentor at YBZ and has a reputation for his dynamic and complex talks which he delivers several times each week in the yeshiva. He is also a ‘maggid shiur’, giving an indepth class on the Talmud daily. He is married to Hadassa, a popular teacher in her own right, who is part of the teaching staff at the Lauder Midrasha. The Halperns moved to Berlin in the summer of 2010 with their three children.

Jehoshua Tanaev, Director

Jehoshua Tanaev born in Sankt-Petersburg, Russia, came 1998 to Germany. He finished his school in Dresden, Saxony and came 2007 as a student to the Yeshiva. He is responsible for the administration work in Yeshiva. He is making his degree in law. Jehoshua Tanaev lives with his wife Sarah Esther next to the Yeshiva. They have one son.

Mosche Furer, Outreach-Coordinator

Moshe Furer was born in Kishinev, Moldova. In Moldova, he led the student organization Hillel. After the completion of business studies, he immigrated with his family in 2002 to Germany. Immediately he began his studies at Yeshiva Beis Zion and later decided to create a new project in northern Germany, “Lauder Nordhaus’ in Hamburg. After three years of residence in Hamburg he returned to Berlin. He lives with his wife Aderet and two children in Berlin and studying at the rabbinical seminary in Berlin.
